Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Hard Hat Hippo (hardhathippo.com). By creating an account, you agree to these terms.

Plain English version: don't be a jerk, pay your bills, and we'll do our best to help you hire or get hired.

Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. One account per person. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you think someone accessed your account without permission, email us immediately at support@hardhathippo.com.

For Employers

Subscriptions & Payment

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. Prices are listed on our pricing page. We offer a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. After the trial, you choose a plan or your account reverts to free (no active job posts).

You can cancel anytime from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — no prorated refunds for partial months. No auto-renewal traps. No cancellation fees. No hidden charges.

Job Postings

Every job posted must include: a real pay range (no "DOE" or "competitive"), a specific location, and a valid trade category. Job postings that violate employment law, discriminate against protected classes, or misrepresent the position will be removed. We reserve the right to remove any listing at our discretion.

For Workers

Worker accounts are always free. Your profile information is visible to employers on the platform. You can hide your profile at any time from your settings. Applying to a job shares your profile (including phone number) with that employer.

Acceptable Use

Don't do these things:

• Post fake jobs or fake worker profiles
• Spam, harass, or send unsolicited messages to other users
• Scrape data from the platform
• Use the platform to discriminate based on race, gender, age, religion, disability, or any protected class
• Attempt to circumvent subscription limits or payment requirements
• Post jobs that violate federal, state, or local employment laws

Limitation of Liability

Hard Hat Hippo is a job board — we connect employers and workers. We are not a staffing agency, employer of record, or guarantor of any hire. We don't verify worker credentials (certs are self-reported), conduct background checks, or guarantee job accuracy. Employers and workers are responsible for their own due diligence.

Intellectual Property

The Hard Hat Hippo name, logo, and platform design are our property. Job postings belong to the employers who create them. Worker profiles belong to the workers. You grant us a license to display your content on the platform for the purpose of operating the service.

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in Baltimore, Maryland under AAA rules. You waive your right to a jury trial and class action participation. If this makes you uncomfortable, don't use the platform — but this is standard for web services.

Termination

You can delete your account anytime. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, your data is handled per our Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll notify you of material changes. Continued use = acceptance.
